At 14, Jordon was often in trouble at school. At 15, he is working full-time and he and his partner are raising their son, Rion..
Jordon and his partner didn’t intend to get pregnant at 14. But with a lot of support from their families, their son Rion was born in 2006.
Jordon says he was a bit scared when he first found out he was going to be a father, but decided that “what happens… happens”
Although Rion is only three months old, Jordon hasn’t found being a young father has presented too many challenges so far. He is loving being a father and wants to offer encouragement to other teen dads.
He sees heaps of benefits in being a young father. “I’m guessing it’s gonna be easier to relate to Rion when he gets older”.
Jordon was present during the birth as his girlfriend’s support person, along with her mother. He says it was the most awesome experience. If the pregnant mother is happy with it, Jordon thinks it’s important for fathers to be there at the birth.
